Firstly we would like to thank everybody who took part in last years event, from the planning, cooking and participation of the teams, thank you all for such a wonderful effort.
This year we are really looking forward to a bigger and better event Colin has been out on the ground planning a challenging route for the teams, we are booked into the River Dart Country Park and look forward to seeing the friendly team at the park again. So it's time to start thinking about getting a team together, registration & sponsor forms are on the downloads page or you can register online.
We also have a slightly lighter one day fun challenge each year around June/July. Consisting of a simple hike around Dorsets coast ending at the pub for a few refreshments and food. Please contact us for more information or check this site.
The event is a Fun Charity Team Challenge over 2 days to include an over night ‘under canvas’ stop between the hours of midnight and 5am Sunday. This is NOT a race, it’s all about Teamwork…Success on this challenge is all about team work. From the moment that you register you will need to work as a team. You will need to train and prepare as a team and fundraise as a team and have fun! Sponsorship money raised will be split 50/50 between our local charity MV Freedom and Help 4 Heroes. http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ The Challenge starts at the Dartmoor Brewery in Princetown where teams will be given a Firkin, (empty 9 gallon barrel) of Jail Ale and then make their way 15 miles on foot across the Moor following a pre-designated route to an RV point. Each team will be given a route plan. After dinner a fun team quiz with entertainment we will then camp the night. An early start with cooked breakfast and
the teams enter the 3rd part of the Challenge, having to get themselves and
their Firkin to Weymouth in Dorset
'by any means' (must be safe, legal & within reason!) the most novel or
interesting mode of transport is encouraged. (i.e. this may be an old fire
engine, quad bikes or even by sea. Or you may want to decorate an old jeep as a
Pirate ship) Any Charity fund collections along the way are at your discretion.
Teams must plan to arrive at the RV point Weymouth by 15:00. Teams may arrive
earlier at the RV but not later than this. Teams to rendezvous at 15:15 at
Brewers Quay where there will be a ‘Barrel Roll’ along the Harbour side to the
Kings Arms and official finish. The bar is open all day for well earned
refreshment and the evenings entertainment with live music, beer tent & BBQ. |
